Phosphatidylglycerol structure
WebMar 10, 2024 · Abstract. Phosphatidylglycerol is a crucial phospholipid found ubiquitously in biological membranes of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. The phosphatidylglycerol phosphate (PGP) synthase (PgsA), a membrane-embedded enzyme, catalyzes the primary reaction of phosphatidylglycerol biosynthesis. WebIn mammalian cells, phosphatidylglycerol activates a nuclear protein kinase C while inhibiting some of the activities of platelet activating factor. The enzyme cytochrome c oxidase, the last enzyme in the respiratory electron transport chain of mitochondria, contains four molecules of phosphatidylglycerol in its crystal structure.
